    From the clerk to the President, each person plays an important role in the overall supply chain,ensuring our customers receive their goods in the time frame they expect.

    We are currently accepting resumes for an experienced Payroll and Benefits Coordinator for our Head Office inSmithers, BC operations.

    Reporting to the Director of Human Resources & Payroll, the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator ensures that allaspects of full cycle payroll for all employees, including time & attendance and payroll systems as well as thecompany's group benefit programs, are processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance withCompany and government policies, requirements and regulations.

    Process bi-weekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees, as well as commission and bonus payments

    • Check payroll entries
    • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance and other deductions
    • Reconcile payroll totals and ensure all deductions to unions and health benefit plans are made as scheduled
    • Ensure accurate processing of sick pay, benefits and vacation payouts
    • Respond to employee and government agency inquiries in regards to payroll
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records
    • Monitor payroll related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance to businessprocesses
    • Advise employees and managers on the interpretation of payroll remittances, compensation and benefitprograms, and other payroll related concerns
    • Ensure compliance with employer's payroll legislation
    • Provide outstanding customer service to employees in person, phone and via email
    • Maintain payroll information and related records systems in compliance with applicable legislation
    • Stay abreast on compliance requirements and industry best practices; recommend changes or modificationsto existing payroll procedures to remain in compliance; and adopt best practices where feasible
    • Interact with employees and respond to their inquiries in a calm, courteous and efficient manner
    • Attend ongoing HR meetings as scheduled

    Other duties as assignedQualifications:

    • Educationo High School Diplomao Academic degree is preferred, but not required
    • Skills and abilitieso Canadian Payroll Association certification or pursuing the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)professional designation would be preferred, but not requiredo Strong knowledge of federal and provincial (BC / AB)
    Employment Standardso Ability to prioritize and be detail-orientedo Ability to work individually as well as part of a teamo Demonstrated time management skillso High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse environmento Knowledge of and exposure to a range of payroll activities, including some of the following:
    compensation and benefits, employee relations, and employee communicationso Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact anddiscretion
