What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to a team within the park as you deliver the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks's mandate of ecological sustainability.
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate park operations.
  • Plan, prepare and administer a program budget.
  • Provide leadership on human resources activities (e.g. selection, training and evaluation of staff, assigning work schedules, managing performance, etc.).
  • Provide leadership in the delivery of quality customer service to park guests.
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of the drinking water and wastewater operations according to appropriate legislation, policies and procedures.

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You are able to be designated and perform the work as a Park Warden and can meet the Ministry's standards in the use of force training.
  • You must possess a valid class 'G' driver's license or equivalent, as recognized by the province of Ontario.
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain an appropriate water treatment systems operator certificate.
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain a valid First Aid certificate.
  • You have the ability to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays per schedule.

Leadership Skills:


  • You demonstrate the ability to provide leadership, monitor performance and promote excellence in customer service and team performance.
  • You have proven experience in developing sound and innovative programs and in issues management.
  • You have been successful in promoting equitable practices that value diversity and inclusion into your work environment and that support employee engagement.
  • You have experience motivating and inspiring staff to achieve results in a rapidly changing environment.

Program Management and Coordination Skills:


  • You have a good understanding of accounting, revenue practices, expenditure control, managing budgets and supply and contract management.
  • You possess analytical skills and the ability to work independently and use good judgment.
  • You are able to set priorities, meet tight deadlines, work under pressure and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • You have organizational skills to prepare schedules, organize and implement work and special projects.

Communication, Relationship Management and Interpersonal Skills:

  • You have strong communication skills to provide advice and recommendations to senior managers and staff.
  • You have the ability to prepare correspondence and develop/maintain operating and emergency plans.
