Summary
The position is primarily a yard labourer job. The responsibilities will include safely operating machinery and equipment and adhering to the company's safe work practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

Active participation in safety work culture
Clean and prepare work area to eliminate possible hazards.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
Operating overhead cranes with or without load attached
Utilize pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment.
Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps, and other temporary structures.
Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
Handle, move, load and unload various materials by hand or using company supplied equipment

Requirements:

Previous crane, rigging, and forklift experience an asset:

Previous knowledge of steel shapes and profiles considered an asset
Previous experience as a labourer, specifically in the steel industry, preferred
Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
Experience in grinding and working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs), perform physical labour, and walk and stand for long periods of time.
Effective verbal and listening communications skills
Time management skills

Conditions

Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 50 lbs
Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hardhat, safety boots, etc.)
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
Requires good manual dexterity.
Noise level is generally loud.
Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
Hazards associated with the manufacturing/construction setting.
Willing and able to work overnights and/or rotate shifts

Salary:
$19.00-$23.00 per hour
