CADTH is Canada's drug and health technology agency. We're a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Ottawa, with a satellite office in Toronto.

We're funded by Canada's federal, provincial, and territorial governments, with the exception of Quebec, to provide independent information and advice to the country's publicly funded health care systems.

Health administrators and policy experts rely on CADTH to inform their decisions about the funding and appropriate use of the drugs, devices, and services used to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions.

Primary Focus

In this newly created role that supports work in both the Pharmaceutical Reviews (PR) and Medical Devices and Clinical Interventions (MDCI) teams the Evidence, Products and Services Officer works with CADTH teams to prepare (write) reports that address specific research and/or policy questions regarding pharmaceutical products and is also responsible for developing projects within the MDCI portfolio.

On any given day, the Evidence, Products and Services Officer will:

  • Works with internal stakeholders (CADTH review teams, pharmaceutical advisory committees, pCPA, MDCI, expert committees) and external stakeholders (clinical experts, other healthcare organizations) to ensure that issues related to the implementation of CADTH recommendations are addressed in CADTH Pharmaceutical reviews, MDCI products, and recommendations.
  • Conducts comprehensive literature reviews, critical appraisals, evidence syntheses, and other relevant research activities, including indirect comparisons, metaanalyses, and systematic reviews related to provisional funding algorithms and reviews eligible for the formulary management expert committee (FMEC), such as nonsponsored reviews, class reviews, and therapeutic reviews.
  • Provides advice to sponsors on how to best prepare and submit information (e.g., algorithms, place in therapy description, implementation plans) to facilitate implementation.
  • Identify and develop topics for CADTH HTA, Optimal Use, Horizon Scans, Environmental Scans and other products using proactive scans and dialogue with clinical experts
  • Develops project proposals in conjunction with the Evidence, Products and Services teams including the specific deliverables for projects (e.g., reports, recommendations, and tools) to maximize impact.
  • Provides project status updates as required to PR and MDCI teams to ensure appropriate conduct of projects, achievement of work priorities, job expectations, and compliance with systems, policies, and procedures.
Is this the right role for you?


The Evidence, Products and Services Officer will likely have:

  • A graduate degree in a health-related discipline (biostatistics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health economics, medicine) plus experience conducting critical appraisals, systematic reviews, meta-analyses or health technology assessments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in searching electronic databases and grey literature on a variety of search platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated strength in scientific or technical report writing. Ability to speak effectively before expert groups and/or diverse audiences.
  • Experience at working collaboratively, prioritizing, and balancing multiple competing tasks effectively.
  • An understanding of the Canadian health care system and knowledge of the decisionmaking processes within the federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions
  • Strong project management experience managing multiple priorities with key deliverables and timelines.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and teamoriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
