With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, and in the context of a respectful and inclusive style, you will:

  • Develop and implement Task Force plans that include: Task Force terms of reference and structure, internal engagement planning and facilitation, research, policy/initiative development and implementation, and evaluation plans
  • Develop and steward relationships that support the success of the targets and goals of the Task Force and HAF
  • Develop and implement robust internal engagement processes and activities, working in collaboration with Communications & Engagement (C&E)
  • Establish and maintain positive work relationships with internal partners, other orders of government and community stakeholders including the homeless serving sector, EPS, Peace Officers, Fire and Rescue
  • Identify affordable housing market issues and trends and share information on related statistics, demographics, and other data
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in external committees and working groups
  • Prepare research reports and recommendations that are accessible, wellcited, and help to achieve the Task Force and HAF goals
  • Prepare Council Reports responding to motions and inquiries regarding the Task Force and HAF systems
  • Support the research and policy analysis needs of the Housing Task Force
  • Lead and participate in new development or redesign of services, programs, and projects
  • Continuous improvement planning
  • Assess and evaluate proposed and existing policies, programs, and services
  • Prepare Council reports, briefing notes, memorandums, presentations, evaluation summaries, and other relevant documents required to both internal and external parties
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Human Ecology, Social Work, Recreation Administration, Planning, Public Administration or other related human services program.
  • A Master's Degree would be considered an asset. Holders of degrees in Social Work must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers. An equivalent combination of training and experience is an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in related work.
  • Experience working in the homelessness and/or affordable housing sector would be considered an asset.
  • Experience navigating levels of government, large corporations, and community organizations
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects; must have exceptional project and process management skills
  • Project Management training and/or certification would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience, training, and skills in program/policy evaluation in social development is required
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the political process involved in gaining support in and approval of recommendations and initiatives including the demonstrated ability to write reports and provide recommendations
  • Ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with community groups, agencies, and organizations
  • Excellent facilitation, research, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation, organizational, time management and prioritization skills are required
  • Change agent, with strong entrepreneurial skills and attitude, comfort with risk, and willingness to try new things

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
