ASSOCIATE PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Successful Investor Wealth Management Inc.


We are an established wealth management and investment publishing firm with 25+ years' experience in subscription marketing and independent portfolio management with assets under management verging on $1 billion and growing.

Successful Investor Wealth Management ('SIWM') is actively seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager who will provide high quality support and contribute to the continued growth of the organization.


This role will work with Portfolio Managers and the investment team to perform ongoing review and analysis of client portfolios as well as ensure client portfolios are managed using the SIWM investment strategy in light of the clients' risk tolerance and investment objectives.


Under the guidance of a Portfolio Manager, the Associate Portfolio Manager will conduct ongoing wealth conversations with clients, developing a personal relationship and sustaining an ongoing understanding of client life goals, circumstances and wealth needs.

They will consistently deliver the desired client experience during all client interactions and use strong knowledge of the Successful Investor Wealth Management recommended stocks and services, to ensure the client's needs are well understood, documented and satisfied.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Portfolio Managers by preparing 'proforma' portfolios based on clientspecific risk tolerances and knowledge of SIWM investment philosophy.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in the management of client accounts, determining suitability of investments, and recommending investment transactions to meet clients' goals, objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in the answering of client inquiries, including 'handholding' during times of market volatility.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in meeting with clients to discuss investment returns, changes in personal circumstances, updating wills.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with suitability and KYC review.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in monitoring and reviewing Corporate Action elections.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in research of "non SIWM" universe stocks, usually on client request.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in meeting with clients to discuss overall portfolio strategy and performance.
  • Attend and present at Investment Discovery meetings.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with the ongoing maintenance and review and oversight of client portfolio requirements, including, but not limited to:
  • Electronic cash flow payments and receipts analysis.
  • High cash balance reviews.
  • Sector allocation analysis and rebalancing.
  • Security concentration analysis and rebalancing.
  • Changes in client KYC factors, including risk tolerance, time horizon, objectives, employment status, marital status.
  • Daily inflow/outflow analysis.
  • Assist Portfolio Manager and Wealth Management team with other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS (Qualifications, Experience & Skills)

  • University Degree in Business or a related field.


  • CFA

  • Chartered Financial Analyst Designation.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
  • Registered with the Securities Commissions as an Associate Portfolio Manager.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Interest and commitment needed to meet the requirements for future registration as Portfolio Manager.
  • Financial planning experience a plus.
  • Investment Sales experience a plus.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Detailed oriented, thorough and organized.
  • Punctual
  • Dynamic & articulate.
  • Willing to 'own' decisions and tasks.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Working hours are typically 9:00am 5:00pm but may occasionally run beyond based on workload and deadlines, as well as to accommodate client schedules.
  • Will Include attending some offsite meetings, and occasional overnight travel.
Located near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue in North York, Toronto.
