We are currently looking for a
Training Coordinator to join our Control Centre Operations team in a permanent position.

Reporting to the System Control Manager you will be responsible for the coordination of all activities related to the training of System Operators including new System Operator training, continuing education requirements and administration of related documentation, including continuing education databases.


As Training Coordinator your duties will include:

  • Involvement in the development and administration of the System Operator Apprenticeship program
  • Coordinate System Operator training sessions by organizing agendas, scheduling Subject Matter Experts for training.
  • Provide guidance to trainers in the development of training material to ensure it meets a systematic approach to training for compliance purposes.
  • Facilitation, review and creation of accredited educational courses in accordance with the System Operators training requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate and appropriate records and evidence of compliance related to the System Operator training programs. (Subject Matter Expert for NERC standards PER005, PER003 during audits).
  • Maintenance of NSPI's Continuing Education Provider status within the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Continuing Education Program (Subject Matter Expert during audit).
  • Involvement in the updating and development of system operations guidelines, system operating procedures and other related documents to facilitate changes required that are recognized during training session and participate in the Document Review Committee.
  • Ability to conduct gap assessments as it pertains to System Operator training and ensure the System Operators Task List and System Operator Training Program is reviewed and updated annually.
  • Represent NSPI on the Training Committee with NPCC (travel may be required).
  • Completing quality calls for all System Operators throughout the year to meet compliance (Subject Matter Expert for COM002 during the audit)
  • Coordinate and proctor new System Operator hire testing.
  • Maintain and update online training material in eKnowledge centre.


You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.


You may be required to be available for after-hours restoration activities which may include involvement in the Emergency Services Restoration Plan.


What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • You will have a minimum of a Grade XII education or equivalent, recognized administration and/or business certificate, degree or diploma and a minimum of three years' (3) experience.
  • Formal training in the development and delivering of adult education is preferred.
  • NERC certification would be an asset, although it is not currently a requirement for this position.
  • You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational skills.
  • You must be proficient in MS Office (strong computer skills in Excel and SharePoint in particular).
