Battery Maintenance Technician Level II
Job Summary
Perform scheduled maintenance and watering following standardized work procedures for customer's batteries and chargers on a service agreement. Support on-site maintenance for Johnston Equipment Rental Batteries as required. Work to develop knowledge around diagnostic and repair activities for batteries and chargers as per established standardized work procedures.
As required, embrace organizational TPS principles and support continuous improvement of Johnston Equipment's battery maintenance services by proactively identifying opportunities to further optimize existing standard work procedures and identify opportunities to standardize other work tasks.
Provide on the job training and mentoring support for Level 1 Battery Maintenance Techs in training.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Battery Watering
- Attend and complete customer scheduled maintenance contracts for battery and charger inspections and routine watering, at requested frequencies and as per our established standard work procedures
- Prepare customer summary reports detailing asset state and opportunities and review with both customer and customer's sales representative for follow up on replacement power opportunities
- Proactively identify opportunities to technical training team to optimize our standard work procedures for routine battery/charger maintenance work and watering procedures
- As requested, regular maintenance on all Rental batteries and/or chargers
- Educate customer on how to keep batteries and/or chargers in good condition
Battery / Charger Maintenance Training
- Working in conjunction with Level II Technician, develop skills to perform routine maintenance practices for batteries and changers, as per established standard work procedures
- Coordinate/assist service techs and sales reps with battery performance issues
- Contact and coordinate with manufacturing OEM on any warranty issues
Level I Trainee Mentoring
- Mentor new trainees on the established standard work procedures for battery watering
Requirements:
High school
Minimum of 2 years technical or material handling experience or Electrical trades certificate
Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. and knowledge of lifting devices
Forklift certification preferred
Able to work independently
Good command of English (Verbal and Written)
Experience with mobile devices
JD Edwards experience an asset
Driver's Abstract
Diagnose and repair batteries and chargers. Perform scheduled maintenance on batteries and chargers. Maintain Rental Batteries in house and at customer sites.
