Lawn Maintenance Worker (Seasonal)

Seasonal Full-Time
- May 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024
Contract length: 6 months
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Landscaping, maintenance of cemetery grounds including: clean up of grounds, mowing and trimming of lawns, trees and shrubs.
- Maintain hand and gaspowered tools including ride on mower, trimmers, pruners and blowers.
- Maintain and clean roads and pathways
- Remove garbage, dead flowers and plant materials from gravesites
- Report any ground holes, depressions and fallen headstones to the Cemeterian.
- Responsible for maintaining a work environment that is above all standards for Occupational Health and Workplace safety.
- Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments
- Other assigned duties as required
- A Grade 12 education or equivalent
- A valid driver's license
- Able and willing to work 40 hours per week,
Monday to Friday: - WHIMS, First Aid Training assets
- A team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to multitask and set priorities
- Previous experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance, manual equipment (grass trimmer, tree pruner, leaf blower, gas powered ride on mower) and/or cemetery environment and a demonstrated interest in working outdoor is an asset.
- Experience or certification in one or more of the following: Arboriculture, Horticulture, Turf Management, Landscaping would be considered an asset

- Complete Responsible Ministry Protocol which includes clear Criminal Record Check
- Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 114 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville
- Holy Cross Cemetery, 1259 South Park Street, Halifax
- Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7076 Mumford Road, Halifax
Condition of employment:
