Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Actively participating in the shipping and receiving operations, including duties such as:
Loading and unloading trucks
Checking for overages, damages and shortages
Order picking and repackaging returned materials
Operating a counterbalance forklift to pick orders and prepare outgoing shipments
Safely operating a heavy duty counterbalance forklift outdoors, over uneven terrain to move material and pick orders when required
Consistently executing pedestrian safety while operating machinery
Actively participating in cycle counts and inventory control processes
Maintaining an exceptional attendance record with consistent emphasis on punctuality
Participating in all group health and safety meetings
Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety
Complying with all PERI policies and procedures, and provincial health and safety standards, at all times
Respect working procedure
Use protective personal equipment when required
Report hazards and accidents
Take care of your health and safety and that of the others
Other related duties as assigned
Key Skills and Core Competencies
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work within a team and individually with mínimal supervision
Education and Qualifications
Must have a valid forklift license from a recognized and accredited Canadian training program or school
Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in the safe operation of a counterbalance forklift
Previous experience organizing material in an outdoor environment is preferred
Experience operating a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift with capacities up to 15,000 pounds/ 7,000 kilograms is preferred
Ability to handle both large and small parts for material preparation and movement
Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and the ability to count parts manually
Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace health and safety
Working Conditions
Work is performed outdoors year round
Regular exposure to dust, dirt and grime
Constant exposure to forklift and transport truck traffic
Availability to work overtime during weekdays and weekends when required
Must wear the personal protective equipment required in work areas
