ROLE OVERVIEW


The Clinical Assistant performs a range of office and support activities for the pain clinic while assisting the physicians in providing care to the patients.

The Clinical Assistant will support the physicians by performing such duties as answering phones and directing calls, greeting, and directing visitors, preparing patients for their visits by taking and documenting vital signs, answering questions, and performing routine clerical, data entry, and/or word processing work as assigned.


YOU WILL:


  • Performs assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients, including taking vitals, medical history and recording information in the EMR appropriately.
  • May perform initial patient consultation under the direction of the physician.
  • May assist during physician examination.
  • Assist in the implementation of new patient services.
  • Prepare equipment and examination rooms.
  • Assist in coordinating the flow of patients within the clinic.
  • Work collaboratively as a team with other onsite clinicians.
  • Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
  • Collect and ensure test results and risk assessments are entered into the system within the week received. (UDT, ORT)
  • May perform specialized services of a routine clerical/administrative nature in strict accordance with established procedural guidelines as appropriate to the position. One example would be to process dictated notes from physicians per policy with the provider and file all consult notes into patient charts.
  • Orders, stocks, and distributes office and medical supplies.
  • Patient liaison.
  • Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned.

YOU HAVE:


  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Previous Experience with Telus PS Suite (EMR) is considered an asset.
  • Strong word processing and/or data entry skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
