SCHEDULING TECHNICIAN

OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
The Timetable Unit is looking for a dynamic, vibrant, insightful individual to complement our growing team.

Working under the direction of the Manager, Office of the Registrar Systems, this position will work as an integral part of the scheduling team in a fast paced, detail oriented environment.

Using InfoSilem timetabling software and PeopleSoft, the Scheduling Technician will be accountable for annual timetable development, connecting with program areas to provide timetable support and the effective resolution of a variety of program and course change issues.


Joining the Timetable Unit offers an environment of teamwork and cooperation as you collaborate with Faculties and other College departments to maintain the centralized schedule.

You will develop expertise in these areas and make recommendations for continual improvement to our timetable business processes and the supporting software system.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Consult and advise Academic Chairs and/or designates to develop course combinations, academic blocks, and use of scheduling ties.
  • Generate the global timetable using integrated software processes.
  • Anticipate issues or trends and provide system expertise on impacts of change requests.
  • Analyze class sections and provide alternative scenarios.
  • Implement timetable changes through analysis and established criteria.
  • Perform quality assurance review on timetabling data.
  • Support scheduling decisions through data support for decision making.
  • Act as central point of contact for Academic Chairs and all College areas.
  • Identify and troubleshoot timetabling issues.
  • Participate in evaluation of process and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Review appeals and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Provide reports on physical resource usage and provide recommendations for space optimization.
  • Provide training and support on the timetable process to academic staff; update training manuals.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Completion of a relevant twoyear postsecondary diploma.
  • 3+ years of directly related experience in postsecondary education, preferably in a registrarial capacity.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the use of scheduling software (preferably InfoSilem).
  • Experience in the use of PeopleSoft or another integrated student information system.

SALARY:
$48,403 - $62,910 reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE), and includes immediate access to our great pension and benefits programs.
