Cheshire Homes Society of BC (CHSBC) is looking for a
Mandarin Speaking Community Support Worker to work with clients in the following regions: Burnaby. Please note applicants must have a vehicle available for work and a Class 5 BC Driver's License, and be able to speak conversational Mandarin.

Job Summary:


In consultation with the Program Manager, the Community Support Worker provides life skills training and support services for persons with disabilities, including acquired brain injuries, regarding issues such as personal care and other aspects of daily living, access to community leisure programs, housekeeping duties, planning and preparing meals, booking medical appointments and organizing and supporting a client to follow through with a weekly schedule with one or more brain injured clients living in the community.

The Community Support Worker empowers the client(s) to perform all aspects of daily living as independently as possible, providing support and intervention where necessary.


Qualifications:


  • Recent related experience working with the brain injured or other disabled population
  • Recent related experience in behaviour modification techniques
  • Current certification and documents in emergency first aid or equivalent and CPR level A
  • Relevant post secondary education or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Class 5 Driver's License
  • The use of a personal vehicle to drive to clients' homes and drive clients to appointments and other outings.
  • Fluent in Mandarin

Starting Wage:
$24.64/hour


Hours:
This is a casual position with the potential to work up to 40 hours/week based on client contracts.

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to provide proof they have received at least 2 doses of a Covid 19 vaccine. Staff are required to wear a mask for all client sessions.


Experience:

Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)


Language:


  • Mandarin (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Emergency First Aid Certificate (preferred)
  • Class 5 BC Driver's License (preferred)
