FACULTY OF BUSINESS, ENVIRONMENT & TECHNOLOGY (FBET)


NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for someone dedicated to finding ways forward to join our Faculty of Business, Environment and Technology (FBET) team as a Business Student Advisor.

Reporting to the Academic Program Manager (APM), the Business Student Advisor carries out a range of activities including student program advising, student engagement, student success and student progress monitoring.


The advisor will maintain relationships will play a key role in championing pathways like Open Admission Pathways, LINC Business and future pathways initiatives.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Provide support on projects, especially those related to enrollment, learner pathways, transfer credit agreements, and students supports.
  • Triage student issues before they are escalated to program leaders. The Advisor will be the first point of contact to find solutions for learners.
  • Research external pathway opportunities and advise the team on block transfer agreements as part of program development or expansion.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders as required and work with APM and Program chairs to complete early term prerequisite reporting. Prerequisite exceptions are reported to admissions.
  • Create reports and coordinate dashboard development showing learner progressions.
  • Create, run, and analyze reports to be proactive and intervene with advice and guidance to enable student success in the program. This may result in contacting students when progress is out of sync, required courses are missing, and redirection is required.

  • Refer students to support areas as required, such as the Student Readiness and Retention teams, the Office of the Registrar, Student Assessment, Student Financial Aid, Centre for Growth and Wellness, Library and Tutorial Services, Office of Student Judicial Affairs, and Work Integrated Learning and Career Education Centre.
  • Review academic performance with students to ensure that they are on track to succeed in their goals; work with instructors to ensure student success, and make recommendations to students for supports.
  • Counsel students regarding course load, returning to the program after absences, transferring in from other PSIs, and program delivery transfers

  • Maintain relationships with transfer credit officers to ensure the program and Faculty has uptodate information for students on transfer agreements and degree pathways.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Completion of a Bachelor's (Undergraduate) Degree from an accredited postsecondary institution or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Expertise in program architecture, curriculum, course sequencing, pathways, and supporting learners.
  • Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism, including the needs of Indigenous, International, and immigrant learners.

SALARY:

$61,635 -$80,033 annually reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a fulltime AUPE perm position with immediate access to our great benefit and pension programs.
