_Operations Manager_ to join our team at our
_300 Oak Point Highway, Winnipeg Terminal location.

Summary
The Operations Manager is a hands-on position that will oversee the day to day operations of the Dock. Specific Activities include the Shorthaul, Parcel, Shoppers, Dollarama and HBC.

Additionally, you will collaborate with dispatch, drivers, and customer service to ensure the overall business operations are efficient, effective and meet overall customer standards.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads operations to the fullest capacity to meet the needs of customers
  • Provides positive customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Supervise, lead and coach employees in all areas of operations including safety, efficiency in runs, loading and unloading trucks, claim management, and dispatch
  • Maintain staff levels that insure an acceptable level of productivity and performance
  • Manage profitability of the peddle and parcel runs by reviewing processes with key accounts
  • Set up day to day parcel runs
  • Monitor freight movement to ensure maximum load factors and service levels to minimize claims
  • Communicate regularly with Manager on opportunities, risks and threats to the business operations
  • Work with all employees to ensure smooth operations under all conditions
  • Administer reporting and record keeping on key KPI's that include productivity, utilization and service levels
  • Minimize severity and frequency of accidents of contractors, drivers and dock personnel through risk identification process
  • Plan work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing requirements
  • Develop and execute training plan for all Dock employees
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies to reduce risk, loss and damage
  • Practices Safe work procedures and ensures team practices safe work
  • Assists as needed in all areas that affect the operations goals and objectives; thereby, the company goals and objectives

Supervisory Responsibilities
Is responsible for leading, managing and supervising a team of dock Foremans, Supervisors, leadhands and dock personnel.


Qualifications

  • You have a minimum of five years' management experience in a general freight _commercial/industrial facility _
    _solely__ responsible for operational results, service and team_. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and manage critical and unplanned requirements. Strong interpersonal skills to foster and build working relationships with a diverse workforce, in addition to vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Competent ability and capacity to get the job done through a handson approach. Experience using all Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge of WHMIS and the Health & Safety Act. Experience using logistics software is expected. Secondary education in a related field.

Physical Requirements


For this position you will be required to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.

The operation of power equipment on a regular basis. Lift up and move up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to maneuver.

Need a good sense of balance with hand and foot coordination with ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.

Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season. Must wear PPE at all times. Regular use of computer.
