Reporting to the Manager, Employee Health, Safety & Wellness, the HR Generalist will provide support services to Employee Health, Safety and Wellness department staff, and advisory services to members of the Management team.

The position will contribute to the accomplishment of Employee Health, Safety & Wellness services and objectives, and provide a service-oriented, high-performance culture


Please Note:
This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. The office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Collaborate with Payroll and Staffing to coordinate appropriate pay coding related to absences and return to work programming
  • Coordinate Hospital attendance management/absence reporting including generating attendance reports and statistics, and assisting with corporate statistical reports
  • Assist in health & safety file management, including auditing of incident reports, followup with employees and managers, closing of electronic employee incident files, and providing support with incident statistical reporting
  • Support the Employee Health and Wellness Coordinator in the development and delivery of Psychological Health & Safety programming
  • Support the orientation of new staff by providing department overviews at new hire orientation
  • Provide ongoing assistance to employees and Management concerning procedures and status relating to short and long term disability leaves, WSIB, attendance management, incident reporting, wellness initiatives and related departmental policies.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary degree, certificate or diploma in Human Resources, Occupational Health or comparable work experience
  • Specialized training/education in the Human Resources Management function or 24 years' experience working in the Human Resources or Occupational Health & Safety functions.
  • Experience working with partners in the areas of occupational health & safety, disability management or employee wellness preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act,Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Regulations, Personal Health Information Protection Act, OHRC
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English
