The Great Canadian Landscaping Company (GCLC) is looking for an Install Foreperson with strong knowledge of landscape working environments including lawn and garden maintenance, landscape installation and construction.

Details of the position as follows:

  • Term of employment: full time, indeterminate
  • Salary and weekly hours: $35.00/hour at 40 hours/week
  • Company address: 118 Garden Avenue, North Vancouver
  • Location of work: various locations our projects are all over Lower Mainland and along the sea to sky highway
  • Language of work: English


This position will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a crew of landscape labourers and installers (Lead Hands and Assistants).


The position main duties are as follows:

  • Responsible for the efficient execution of day to day tasks on site
  • Plan daily production and working on site with the crew to keep projects on schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Plan and estimate the materials and labour requirements for individual contracts
  • Organize the construction and installation of landscaping projects, including fences, decks, patios, walkways, retaining walls
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units
  • Resolve workrelated problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
  • Responsible for purchasing and accountability of supplies and materials
  • Training, hiring, performance review, mentorship, support with intent to improve productivity and create additional value for the company
  • Report with Project Manager regarding direct/indirect report, project progress, HR/performance/discipline reporting
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
  • Identify problems and/or area of improvement, review projects, recommend process improvements

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Install Foreperson
  • Minimum 5 years in a landscape construction industry as a Lead Hand
  • High school completion
  • Post Secondary Education in landscaping/horticultural is an asset
  • Expert mentorship and leadership skills
  • Ability to coordinate and delegate a series of tasks and assignments to achieve a goal
  • Detail oriented and like multitasking
  • Ability to complete projects within budget and maintain a high rate of customer satisfaction
  • You are able to resolve conflicts without external assistance
  • Ability to manage around tight deadlines and still get the details right
  • Competent in the use of power tools (cutoff saws, plate tampers, jackhammers, skill saws, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  • Advanced measurement and calculation skills
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license
  • Communicate in English proficiently (language of work)
