Course Code: KPE455Y: Kinesiology and Physical Education in Society
Course description: This course builds upon KPE350Y1/KPE355Y1 to further students' theoretical grounding in the broader practice of Kinesiology and Physical Education in society. Topics covered in this course include, but are not limited to, emotional intelligence in the workplace, integrity in community relations, performance adaptability, diversity, creativity, ethics and professionalism, and work-life balance. Adopting a values-based approach to learning and development students will be encouraged to consider strategies for enhancing the practice of Kinesiology and Physical Education within society. As a part of this course, students will spend 100 hours in the field and will work closely with a mentor. Course evaluation activities include weekly class and tutorial sessions, written assignments, presentations, and examinations. Notes: Classroom/tutorial sessions are two hours per week in addition to field experience.

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90 includes 4% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,930.79 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02 includes 6% vacation pay
Minimum Qualifications: PhD preferred in a relevant area, or combination of relevant expertise and experience. Teaching experience in college or university setting is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications: Over and above the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to individuals with prior graduate teaching experience in this area.
Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught in an in-person format in the academic year.
