About Us:


Transitions, Leadership, and Enrichment (TLE) supports incoming students through a variety of different avenues, including the suite of summer transition programs titled Western Launch.

The goal of Western Launch is to assist first year students with their transition to the university environment and culture.

This includes helping first year students select and register in first-year courses, learn more about services at Western, explore our campus, and meet members of our community before they begin school in September.

New Student Experience Leaders will assist with a variety of summer programs.


Responsibilities:

The Western Launch Student Coordinator supervises and supports a group of 14 New Student Experience Leaders throughout the summer.

They facilitate the training of these student leaders, conduct student e-advising and phone appointments, manage the course advising booking system, help prepare engaging on-campus programming and finalize logistics, and assist with event preparation and management throughout the duration all programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between and collaborate with campus partners and Student Experience
  • Track attendance of participants and manage the online tracking system
  • Assist with training and student staff development
  • Schedule and print documents for daily appointments
  • Work with student leaders to ensure daily events run smoothly and efficiently
  • Provide a friendly and supportive environment for students and guests who attend oncampus programs
  • Deliver presentations to students and guests during oncampus programs
  • Serve as wellrounded role models for incoming students and firsttime student leaders
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that helps participants develop a sense of belonging in the Western community
  • Help prepare and finalize program material and logistics
  • Display an energetic and enthusiastic attitude
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to take direction and provide leadership accordingly
  • Ability to demonstrate professional and appropriate relationships with students, parents and other staff members

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 70% academic average (65% in Engineering)
  • Western undergraduate or graduate student, main campus only
  • Completed at least 10 full courses (or equivalent) at Western and continuing education in fall 202
  • Able to attend interviews when required
  • Working on campus in London from May to August
  • Previous experience working with Summer Academic Orientation/Community Connections/Western Launch (or equivalent as demonstrated through knowledge of programs and services on campus)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge about programs and services at Western

Term Length:
Full-Time Summer Position, May - August 2024 (Hours vary; Contract End Date September 9, 2024)


Time Commitment:
Western Launch Student Coordinators will be employed 16 weeks (depending on program requirements). During this time, leaders will work up to hours per day between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm. Some weekends and evenings will be required.
