Material Handler - Peterborough, Canada - Ritz Plastics Inc.
Description
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Material Handler responsibilities involve the handling, movement and storage of raw materials, components and other items used in the manufacture of products as well as the WIP and finished goods.
Responsibilities also include the loading of these items into the manufacturing equipment as well as product changeover of materials, equipment and workstations.
Responsibilities include:
- Loading, mixing, blending of materials, colours, additives and other items to manufacture products.
- Proper storage and labelling of materials, components, packaging.
- Safe operation of lift trucks including refueling.
- Notifying supervisor and Quality department of nonconforming products and processes.
- Attending/participating in meetings when required.
- Cleaning/changeover of material handling equipment such as grinders, loaders, hoppers, dryers, hoses, etc.
- Moving finished goods, packaging, materials, components, inserts, fixtures, tables, and other items to/from storage areas to/work areas.
- Accurate completion of production records.
- Maintaining good housekeeping of work areas and facility.
- Accurate completion of quality control records.
- Accurate recording of necessary process information.
- Occasional loading and unloading of shipments.
- Organizing and setup of workstations and storage areas including inventory and cycle counts.
- Handling of waste and recycling items.
- Participating in training/cross training.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Working Conditions
- Factory floor environment.
- Fast paced, time sensitive, goaloriented environment.
- May be working at one or multiple workstations.
- Working around and with machinery, tools, inspection and poke yoke fixtures and equipment.
- Working with propane, batteries, paints, cleaners and other maintenance fluids.
- Wearing of safety equipment such as safety shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
- Shiftwork as scheduled; overtime as required.
