Job Summary:


Responsible for providing specialized engineering support in a specific engineering field or discipline for operations, maintenance, research and contract projects within Nuclear Operations.


  • Design, fabricate, and assemble equipment and instruments that require engineering techniques or modifications.
  • Conduct standardized procedures using specialized equipment and instruments.
  • Analyze and solve new, unique, and complex problems as presented in research contracts and projects.
  • Collect, evaluate and analyze data.
  • Write and/or adapt computer software required for, but not limited to, data collection, design, modelling, and mathematical and/or statistical analysis.
  • Recommend and incorporate new approaches and methodologies in nuclear operations or maintenance.
  • Write sections of technical reports and/or papers for inclusion in safety analyses and contract reports.
  • Format and summarize data and write technical reports in support of nuclear operations.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to engineering colleagues, industry and contract agencies.
  • Participate in the management of the research project or contracts by defining and coordinating resource needs, determining priorities to achieve project goals, and setting schedules that will meet defined deadlines.
  • Provide supportive advice on nuclear based situations to colleagues, users and students.
  • Exchanges technical information with others.
  • Liaise with external clients, customers and project partners.
  • Required to perform activities which require dexterity and precision including, but not limited to, the manual calibration of equipment.
  • Remain current with frequent advances in a technical field such as nuclear instrumentation or nuclear systems.

Supervision

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures for shortterm staff, students and volunteers.
  • Provides functional guidance on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant field of study.
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Required to complete and maintain Reactor Operator Certification upon hire
