The Toronto Grace Health Centre (TGHC) provides specialized care and services to those individuals who require Complex Continuing Care, Post Acute Care Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, and Transitional Care.

The care and services provided at TGHC help facilitate the patient flow through the health care system and ensures recovery to those individuals who may return to their homes or to Long Term Care (LTC) facilities in their communities.

SECURITY GUARD

(2 POSITIONS)

FULL TIME & PART TIME TEMPORARY 6 MONTH CONTRACT

MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents to help deescalate matters
  • Responding to a variety of issues by displaying excellent customer services and problem solving skills in a warm, compassionate and empathetic manner to deescalate and contact authorities or medical services for assistance
  • Engage in preventative and reactive duties to include, but not limited to interior and exterior patrols within the hospital premises as appropriate
  • Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested to the parking lot
  • Accountable for keeping accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service
  • Accountable to write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in a timely manner upon completion of occurrence
  • Investigate and follow up of incidents, report writing, door opening requests, and CCTV camera reviews
  • Participate in process improvement discussions and attend JHSC meetings on an ad hoc basis
  • In this role, it is essential that you are physically able to meet the bona fide requirements of the role and are able to stand and walk for extended periods of time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Ontario Security Guard License, Community College Law Enforcement and Security Diploma preferred
  • Previous security experience preferably in a health care environment
  • Excellent conflict resolution and knowledge of and experience using deescalation skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to exercise good judgment under stressful situations
  • Ability to influence others while maintaining warm, friendly demeanor
  • Proficient in English (both oral and written)
  • Excellent attendance record
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet bone fide occupational requirements as outlined in the Job Demands Analysis
