Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Postsecondary education in Agriculture, Business Administration, Economic Development or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience including managing work plans, coaching, training and development, leading staff in projects, recruitment, performance management and evaluation.
  • Experience with programming initiatives that enable economic development and government's and the department's goals related to the agriculture, food and agriproduct industries.
  • Experience in project management with the ability to lead multistakeholder groups to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to provide advice and recommendations to senior management.
  • High degree of initiative and the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong political acumen.
  • Excellent written communications skills with the ability to write clear and concise documents for all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

The Manager, Industry Foundation manages financial, human resources, programs and initiatives and provides leadership to the section to build and strengthen foundational elements needed to advance investment attraction and economic development for the agriculture, food and agriproduct industries.

These elements include a skilled and available workforce, infrastructure, rural economic development, marketing Manitoba for investment attraction, and leadership, strategic planning and strengthening leadership and governance of industry organizations that influence and support economic development.

The Manager leads a team of industry development specialists who work with industry, department and government stakeholders to identify opportunities that increase economic activity in the targeted industry sectors resulting in the creation of jobs, increased competitiveness and economic prosperity in the agriculture, food and agriproduct industries.
