Work at CBC/Radio-Canada
At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your role
You devour the news and believe in the value of local journalism.

You're tapped into local communities and you want to give the newsmakers, however big or small, a voice on multiple platforms.

You listen and know that no detail is too small to get right. You ask why — a lot. You also love the craft of writing and have experience working in broadcast and digital formats.

You doggedly pursue stories and feel comfortable working on your own.

You also know that news is collaborative and you want to work as part of a team to provide the best content to the audience.

You're not happy with the bare minimum, and instead take every story one step further. You're excited about the possibilities that multi-platform reporting offers. You may not know all of CBC's tools but you're technically adept and willing to learn.

In this role, you'll be reporting and reading newscasts for London Morning, the region's number one radio morning program.

You're responsible for bringing local London stories to radio, digital, mobile and social platforms in a high paced, early morning environment.

You must be interested in learning how to operate a console in a radio studio and be comfortable going to air in a live environment.

As a key member of the morning show team, you thrive on setting the news agenda for the day, providing critical survival information to audiences in the city and across the region.

Afterward, you enjoy the morning conversation with other members of the program team, dissecting the day's news, looking for story follows and planning how to set the agenda for the next day.

Key tasks:

  • Pitch and chase original ideas that set the agenda in London.
  • Interview sources and write news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Package, prepare and deliver radio newscasts and bulletins.
  • Edit stories written by team members when needed.
  • Experience in determining potential legal issues and journalistic policy violations, and ability to act on them.
  • Ability to respond in a breaking situation, and comfortable working under the daily pressures of a busy newsroom.
  • Gather audio and video material in the field, edit and package it to share with the audience on any required platforms.
  • Experience and proven ability to write and voice concise and critical stories for radio.
  • Experience in the field as a reporter with examples of enterprise journalism.
  • Experience working in a live broadcast environment.
  • Demonstrated connection to and knowledge of London and region.
  • Proven ability to work in a diverse team.
  • Technical ability to selfoperate radio controlbooth equipment to record news reports and scripts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High energy and enthusiasm towards journalism.
  • University degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Five years of experience in news media is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including early mornings.
