What will you do:


The Director, Human Resources will lead, coach and inspire the HR Business Partners (HRBP's) and Labor Relations teams to develop and execute on all HR programs and objectives, while fostering a positive work environment.

The Director will also act as a strategic HR business partner to Corporate, Branch leaders and team members by working collaboratively and developing organizational capabilities for various human resources professional development, engagement, retention and corporate culture.

This role is based out of our Toronto office and will be expected to travel to our various branches across Canada.

Strategic Leadership

  • Act as the 'go to' for HRBP escalations and projects to ensure everyone is aligned with the HR vision as well as ensuring we are delivering timely and optimal service to our leaders and team members
  • Position the HR team and the company as the destination of choice for employment in our industry
  • Meet with business leaders to understand and identify human capital initiatives and develop and execute HR strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and address key HR challenges and opportunities
  • Develop, lead and provide guidance on all workforce planning, talent learning and development, onboarding, retention, succession planning and training programs
  • Develop, oversee and deliver performance management and team member development programs and initiatives
  • Oversight of management of Labor Relations matters, including collective bargaining, grievance management and strong union relationships
  • Provide consulting support in areas of change management, teambuilding, conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, talent management, talent acquisition, compensation and employee development
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, labour laws and regulations
  • Investigate and resolve HRrelated issues in a fair and consistent manner

HR Operations

  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners and Generalists responsible for daytoday HR operations, including compensation, reporting, job evaluation and organizational design
  • Build a top performing team that is proactive and provides exemplary business support
  • Embrace and lead change by demonstrating flexibility when direction or priorities shift to achieve individual and team success in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Drive the delivery of HR annual objectives, projects and initiatives, including the development/continuation of HR reporting of metrics/targets/dashboards
  • Continuously assess and improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participate in compensation planning responsibilities including partnering with Total Rewards on market analysis, benchmarking, and retention strategies
  • Evaluate effectiveness of programs/processes and recommend improvements and solutions.
  • Partner with People Managers on the performance enablement process including education in goal setting, setting expectations and measuring and maintaining accountability
What do you bring?

  • Post secondary education/degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and equivalent work experience
  • CHRL or equivalent designation
  • Proven experience as an HR leader, with at least 7 years of experience in progressively senior HR roles and 3 years' experience with managing teams
  • Capable of driving change management and company culture
  • Previous work experience within a unionized labor environment
  • Able to meet the demands and work within a fastpaced, results oriented driven environment
  • Indepth knowledge of HR principles, practices, employment laws and regulations and the ability to appropriately identify e
