The Ministry of the Solicitor General facility includes a 100 bed Secure Treatment Unit (STU) to service the needs of incarcerated offenders with mental illness; and the STU has been designated a Schedule 1 facility under the Mental Health Act by the Minister of Health and Long Term Care.


DUTIES:


  • Provide professional social work and crisis intervention services to seriously mentally ill clients.
  • Develop and implement creative treatment and recovery plans, support services and programs responsive to clients' needs.
  • Engage in clientcentered care.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional team.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and data collection, in accordance with hospital, college and legislative standards.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of educational and information sessions for clients, families, service providers, and the community.
  • Participate in Social Work meetings, peer consultation and committees.
  • Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing literature, reading articles, attending educational events and networking with colleagues
  • To work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG.
  • To ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal's Anti-Racism, Discrimination and Harassment Free workplace policy

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Masters of Social Work degree from an accredited university.
  • Three years' experience in a mental health setting.
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
  • Knowledge, skills and training in concurrent disorders.
  • Advanced psycho social assessment and crisis intervention skills would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of a professional social worker.
  • Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a professional interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • English level A is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.

Salary Range:

to 50.39 per hour
