1 year Full-Time, Temporary Contract, covering for Maternity Leave. Please note, the contract may end early depending on backfill needs.

Program/Department Summary


Mothers/caregivers participating in the Jean Tweed Centre day, outpatient and outreach programs have access to a fully licensed therapeutic Child Development Centre.

The childcare centre provides a warm and nurturing environment for children to play and learn helping them to meet their developmental milestones.


Services offered by ECE's and ECA's include:
child care, onsite parenting workshops, parenting consultations, attachment intervention, home safety assessments, information and support.


Position Purpose
The Supervisor, Child Development Centre provides leadership and continuity of services within the Child Development Centre. The role provides leadership to the Child Development Centre team.

The Supervisor, Child Development Centre participates in the development and implementation of programming and promotes a team-oriented approach to service.


Responsibilities

Services

  • Manage daytoday operations of the program.
  • Provide coordination and support across teams to enhance continuity and quality of care.
  • Collaborate with Director to discuss job performance and establish professional goals.
  • Oversee the maintenance of documentation, including discharge summaries and clinical notes.
  • Engage in ongoing staff development and personal learning as agreed to in performance reviews.
  • Develop and implement programming in collaboration with the Director and in line with the Agency strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate to develop programming in line with evidenceinformed and best practices.
  • Implement and maintain professional practice standards and any relevant reporting and licencing.
  • Oversee and complete statistics and reports on program activities and special projects where applicable.
  • Recommend, participate in the development of and manage the implementation of policies and procedures within the department.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual Operating Plan and department budget submissions.
  • Represent the Jean Tweed Centre in the community.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with funders, community partners and stakeholders as appropriate to further the Centre's mission.
  • As required, provide after hours emergency coverage on a rotational basis.
  • Monitor the safety, health and wellbeing of the clients under the program care.
  • Ensure that program functions and goals are established and reviewed in a timely fashion at the team level.
  • Ensure the CDC equipment and supplies are suitably maintained.
  • Oversee the housekeeping aspects of the site/program, including ensuring that all related areas are maintained in a safe and hygienic manner as required by legislation standards.

Staff Supervision

  • Recruit, orient, train, supervise and coach program staff including ongoing performance management, and the coordination of training and development needs.
  • Participate in, and/or lead all relevant staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Formulate and schedule the work of program staff and authorize and effectively control the overtime work of such staff.
  • Facilitate team building via communication and positive working relationships with staff.
  • Supervise, or support employees to supervise student placements and volunteers.
  • Ensure that proper staffing ratios are maintained, including the addition of casual staff as needed.

  • Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma
- informed, women-centred and anti-oppressive practices.

  • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Maintain a client service orientation including learning about/addressing client needs and concerns.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education with advanced training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be registered with the college of ECE
  • Must have medical clearance
