The Moon Under Water Brew Pub & Distillery is hiring an experienced part-time server for 20 hours per week.

The Moon Under Water's hours of operation are Monday - Saturday: 11:30 am - 10:00 pm, Sunday: 11:30 am - 8:00 pm.

Server shifts will be 8 hours maximum.

What we look for in our service team: An above-and-beyond customer experience. We look to the servers to truly engage with guests as they walk through the door.

To ask them questions about why they're visiting the Moon Under Water, about their travels, and to make customers feel extremely welcomed, like an old friend.

When people walk through the door, we want to them to feel immediately noticed and welcomed.

The position is for the part-time serving position. The position is paid at $16.75 per hour.

Servers tip out the busser at 1% of their sales for the evening (when a busser is scheduled), and 4% to the kitchen staff.

Duties included are:

Having full and complete knowledge of our 15 beers on tap and 10 spirit offerings that we make on site.
Being able to relay beer and spirit tasting notes, food pairing recommendations, Moon Under Water history, and more.
Using the Clover POS machine and basic cash handling skills.
Changing kegs, changing CO2 gas, and trouble shooting keg issues.
Interacting with guests in an outgoing, kind, warm, and inviting way. Ensuring guests come back because of the incredible customer experience.
Greeting customers as they walk through the door with a big smile and
"Hi how are you doing? Welcome to the Moon Under Water Please take a seat where ever you would like and we'll be right with you".
Positively engaging with customers by asking them where they're from, why they are visiting the Moon Under Water, and if you can get them anything to better enjoy their meal.
Understanding the flow of service and anticipating what you can do to enhance the customer experience.
Putting up signage around the Pub for current promotions.
Clearing tables promptly so table turnover time is quick.
Cleaning tables.
Running cutlery through the dish washer in the kitchen.

Cleaning duties

Cleaning washrooms, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, removing garbage, dusting, windexing, etc.
Other duties as assigned._

The Moon Under Water is owned by Anne Farmer-Ash, her husband Steve Ash, and Anne's son Clayton Potter.

Clay acquired his skills at the prestigious Heriot-Watt International Centre for Brewing & Distilling in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he earned a Master's Degree in Brewing & Distilling.

Clay's previous degree is a Bachelor's of Science in Microbiology and Bio Chemistry from UVic.

Our beer is inspired by centuries of European brewing tradition and propelled forward by Canadian passion and creativity.

Our German Brewhaus allows us to implement the most challenging brew methods into our processes from step mashes to decoctions.

These methods are what give our beer unmatched balance and depth.

Moon Under Water Beer is highly awarded at the Canadian Brewing Awards. Potts Pilsner is the most medalled beer at the Canadian Brewing Awards since 2014, winning GOLD in 2021.

We opened the Distillery in 2016 where Clay creates delicious craft spirits such as Single Malt Whisky, Gin, Vodka, and specialty liqueurs such as the Moon Shaft Liqueur.

We strive to use as many local ingredients as possible.

We have a strong partnership with Field Five Farm in Saanich where we purchase 98% of our malt for the beer.

We're known for quality pub fare and extraordinary beer.

What does Moon Under Water reference?_

"The Moon Under Water" is a 1946 essay by George Orwell in which he provided a detailed description of his ideal Pub.-
