Description:
- Under the authority of the Director General and as a member of the senior management team, the Director of Services for Students is responsible for the provision of Services for Students and the management of the Department while participating in the achievement of the objectives of the College as outlined in the Strategic Plan and Mission Statement.
- TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that the Services for Students Department contributes to the attainment of the College Mission and provides the best possible services to meet the changing personal, social, developmental and educational needs of students;
- Initiates, develops and directs the implementation of programs and services aimed at providing students with the tools necessary to succeed academically and ensure their retention in collaboration with the academic sector and other college services;
- Administers the following sectors within the Services to
Students Department:
Accessibility, Mental Health and Wellness, Guidance/Career Counselling, Health, Student Advocacy, Code of Conduct, Student Employment, Alternance Travail Études, Financial Aid, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, Student Life, Indigenous Student Support, Athletics, and Sports Complex;
- Assumes direct responsibility for student conduct and discipline as called for by the Vanier Code of Conduct, in conjunction with campus security and the academic sector, as appropriate;
- Oversees the provision of adequate health services to students including the negotiation of agreements with appropriate agencies to define and determine the mandate of the nurse assigned to Health Services;
- Maintains a working relationship with the Vanier College Student Association, and collaborates in the negotiation and implementation of the agreement between the College and the Student Association;
- Maintains an effective relationship with auxiliary services, on behalf of the College, which include the Food Services Providers (Cafeteria), the Vanier COOP (Jakes's Café and Bookstore), the West Island Readaption Center, and Supercamp;
- Incorporates principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, intersectionality and wellbeing into programs and services in response to diverse student needs;
- Responsible for the Services for Students Department operating budget;
- Hires, supervises and evaluates the departmental managerial, professional and support staff personnel under their direct responsibility;
- Serves as college representative on various college bodies and committees and assumes tasks related to this involvement.

Salary: $100,698 $134,259
Requirements: - Qualifications: Established in accordance with provisions of Article of the Policy for Management Personnel.*
- Bachelor degree in a relevant field or equivalent, Masters degree preferred;
- Five (5) years of relevant experience;
- Experience supervising staff, an asset;
- Excellent English and strong French (written and oral) (to be tested);
- Strong organizational and communication skills;
- Excellent leadership skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (to be tested).
