Founded in 1968, Gateway Mechanical is a privately owned company that has established itself as a leader in the commercial and industrial refrigeration, heating and air conditioning industry (HVACR).

Attending to 40,000+ service calls per year, Gateway is the largest HVAC & Refrigeration service provider in Western Canada.

Our model is comprised of local branch teams with fully qualified personnel representing HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, sheet metal and electrical trades.

These teams are supported by centers of excellence including professional engineers and project managers which ensures Gateway's full technical capability is available for every project and service call.


This is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension and/or becoming permanent

Responsibilities:


  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process from job description development through to new team member onboarding.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Manages the entire job posting and advertisement processes, including ensuring all job postings are current and accurate in Gateway's HRIS, external recruitment engines such as Indeed, and coordinating with third party recruitment firms.
  • Establishes and manages relationships with technical trades educational institutions, unions, schools, and universities to ensure relevant job postings are shared with these institutions as an additional source of qualified applicants.
  • Schedules all interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  • Performs the first interview with prospective front line team members and then assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers, directors, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Attends and participates in job fairs and recruiting sessions.
  • Coordinates with hiring managers, payroll, and other internal stakeholders to initiate the onboarding process
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
  • Proficient with applicanttracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • Intermediate level or higher skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
Requirements / Certifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a front line recruiter in a fast paced environment is required.
  • Certificate, Diploma or bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Pursing a CHRP is preferred.
