Description

As a Financial Analyst, you will join CIBC's Business Banking Finance Team and be responsible for providing high caliber financial analysis and business support to Retail & Wealth Finance, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) as well as the overall Business Banking World.


Expected to be proactive, analyze and recommend enhancements to the existing business processes, the applicant must be able to clearly communicate rationale/solutions, which will enhance effectiveness.


This position is based in Toronto, ON.

Duties include:
Management Reporting and Analytics

Ÿ Lead completion of weekly and monthly reporting packages for key clients including

  • Daily Market Rate Update
  • Weekly ALCO report (includes such key metrics as weekly account opens and net position, weekly and monthly balance growth, and overview of competitive rate environment by product)
  • Weekly Business Banking Balance Update for BB Leadership Team
  • GTB Monthly Financial Update (includes balance, revenues, spreads, expenses and FTE reporting as well as valueadded insights focusing on the key drivers of movements in these metrics)
Ÿ Support completion of key monthly reporting deliverables including:

  • Business Banking Financial Update
  • RMF Deliverables including rate volume analyses
Market Share Analysis and Reporting


Ÿ Lead Market Share Analysis utilizing a variety of different sources (CBA, Externally Reported Bank Financials, Bank of Canada, etc.) to complete analysis of key market share trending for both deposit and lending products including breakdowns by balance/authorization size, region, product type, industry, etc.

Ÿ Develop value-add insights on key short term and long term market trends as well as CIBC performance vs. market

Ÿ Own, operate and administer a complex model

Expense Planning, Reporting and Analyses for Business Banking

Ÿ Manage the Expense Model for Business Banking, with a good understanding of movements/trends/fluctuations across all segments/business lines

Ÿ Provide detailed monthly/quarterly/yearly reporting to all relevant stakeholders

Ÿ Lead in completing the planning and forecasting of Business Banking's expenses. This requires the management of a large model and keeping it up-to-date, understanding the various trends and other impacts affecting expenses, and summarizing outcomes/forecasts to management

Ÿ Lead in setting up any expense plan transfers and/or monthly journal entries/accruals that are required

Planning and Forecasting

Ÿ Run GTB Revenue and Planning Models

Ÿ Maintain and modify complex planning/forecasting models as necessary

Ÿ Support submission of Business Banking LE/Plan including upload into IPS and completion of deliverables for Retail and Wealth Finance (DOE Bridge, FTE Bridge, Rate Volume, LP Forecast, etc.)

Relationship Management

Ÿ Build and manage relationships with key partners including GTB Product Management/Sales, Treasury and Finance

Ÿ Act as the lead contact for the VP Business Contact Centre with respect to all key issues (i.e. DOE, FTE, etc.)

Ÿ Act as the lead contact for the Senior Director Channels & Analytics with respect to all key issues (i.e. Billings, Product Analytics, etc.).

Ÿ Act as the lead contact for the Senior Director CMO with respect to all key issues (i.e. DOE, FTE, etc.).


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit
  • Business/Accounting degree and/or recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. MBA, CPA) and 3 years of related business experience
  • General knowledge of planning, management reporting and analytical procedures and techniques
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of CIBC's financial processes and systems (Essbase, CFR, IPS, etc.)
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Organized, detail oriented individual with highly developed analytical skills
  • Selfmotivated individual, able to operate independently to meet demanding deadlines
  • Great knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Access
