Rate of pay:
$ $45.00 per hour


There is a position available for an Addiction Counsellor with the Gambling and Behavioural Addictions Program at the Sister Margaret Smith Centre.

This position would be primarily responsible for providing addiction treatment services for adults and youth related to gambling and other behavioural addictions such as gaming, and internet use.

In this capacity, the individual would function as a member of the Gambling team while working within the scope of the Adult and Youth Addiction Programs.

Duties would include assessments, case management, individual counselling, and therapeutic and educational group work (in both community, school, and live-in treatment settings. An important role in this position is to work with the schools and community providing educational sessions.

The individual in this role will be expected to develop and maintain community and regional linkages, promote programs, support referrals, and participate in program planning and development.


Qualifications:


  • Degree in Social Work or an equivalent Bachelor level degree in social or health sciences from an accredited University.
  • Registration with an affiliated college with good standing.
  • Specialized training in Problem Gambling is preferred.
  • Experience with the interdisciplinary biopsychosocial model of care.
  • Welldeveloped oral and written communication skills,
  • Excellent time management, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work both independently as well as on a team.
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work.
