Maintenance Technician (M2)Location:
ALS Geochemistry, Winnipeg
Reports to:
Branch Manager
About the Position:
Specific Responsibilities:
- Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and A/C units, blowers, and scrubbers remove and replace as required or send for servicing;
- General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting;
- General preparation; equipment maintenance and repair;
- Plumbing and carpentry work;
- General grounds keeping duties;
- Locate and install new equipment;
- Basic electrical (noncertified);
- Parts fabrication;
- Supply shopping;
- Spare Parts Storage;
- Keep service area clean & organized;
- Maintain and organize all tools;
- Repair bins as required if time permits;
- Must be available for emergency callins during nonworking hours if required;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned by Branch Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Strong command of the English language;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Excellent problemsolving skills;
- Ability to work under general supervision;
Required Qualifications:
- Some experience in general building repairs and operations is preferred;
- Experience working with plumbing, electrical carpentry, drywall and/or painting will be an asset;
- Experience maintaining sample prep equipment an asset;
- Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
- Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines;
- Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
