Maintenance Technician (M2)

Location:
ALS Geochemistry, Winnipeg

Reports to:
Branch Manager

About the Position:

Specific Responsibilities:

Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and A/C units, blowers, and scrubbers remove and replace as required or send for servicing;
General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting;
General preparation; equipment maintenance and repair;
Plumbing and carpentry work;
General grounds keeping duties;
Locate and install new equipment;
Basic electrical (noncertified);
Parts fabrication;
Supply shopping;
Spare Parts Storage;
Keep service area clean & organized;
Maintain and organize all tools;
Repair bins as required if time permits;
Must be available for emergency callins during nonworking hours if required;
Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned by Branch Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong mechanical aptitude;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Strong command of the English language;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Excellent problemsolving skills;
Ability to work under general supervision;

Required Qualifications:

Some experience in general building repairs and operations is preferred;
Experience working with plumbing, electrical carpentry, drywall and/or painting will be an asset;
Experience maintaining sample prep equipment an asset;
Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset.
