JOB SUMMARY:


The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.

ou are responsible for coordinating, supervising and evaluating the direct involvement of site specific Public Skating Programs. Responsibilities include site coordination, supervision, direction of participants, cash handling, customer service, risk management procedures and general administrative tasks.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of Grade 10

Leadership Training is an asset.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative / cash handling role and working with the public.

Previous experience in leading recreation activities and providing direction to participants.


CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:

Current Standard First Aid certificate
Current CPR - 2-rescuer certificate
Current AED Operator certificate
AODA Customer Service/IASR Training


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Demonstrated confidence as a competent skater (i.e. able to skate forwards, backwards, crossovers and stops).
  • Develops a working knowledge of the Department's facilities and programmes in order to make appropriate referrals to other sites as required.
  • Ability to instruct skating an asset (i.e. knowledge of basic skating skills).

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be available to work staggered hours (i.e. weekdays, evenings, weekends)
  • Must wear City of Ottawa provided jacket/vest, fanny pack and whistle.
