    Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Facilities Engineer to join our Calgary or Bruderheim team

    Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Engineering, the Senior Facility Engineer/technologist is an integral member of the Canadian Downstream terminals.

    The successful candidate will act as the facilitator of change using Cenovus's Management of Change Process and Small Project Management Environment Lite framework.

    Work scopes will vary from feasibility and scoping for project justification to detailed engineering either conducted inhouse or by a third-party EP, and project implementation/closure.

    Projects will be in support of initiatives from a variety of other teams such as, operations, maintenance, integrity, and business development.

    This position will play a critical role in leading and working closely with EP's to ensure smooth and safe execution of project management.

    They will also act as the internal Subject Matter Expert on running projects and solving problems. finding solutions and delivering clean project execution.
    This is a full-time employee position.
    Facility Engineering

    Be a contact for technical support to the teams across Canadian Downstream Terminals including Bruderheim Energy Terminal, Hussar gas storage facility and the asphalt terminals located in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Edmonton, and Kamloops.

    Provide engineering expertise and support on facility non-RIK changes, mechanical alterations, and equipment installations/repairs, while ensuring engineering SMEs are consulted when required.

    Perform engineering design in accordance with specifications, codes, regulations, and recommended practices (e.g., Provide upfront scoping, including design basis, execution plan, cost estimate and schedule, for moderate to high-complexity project work and support scoping of larger projects through feasibility review and FEED packages.

    Generate engineering work packages by creating and modifying engineering documents internally or overseeing the development of packages through third party engineering firms.

    Provide engineering support to external engineering firms during front-end engineering, DBM, design reviews and equipment selection.

    Provide construction support during the execution and turnover stages of projects, including field change notices and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).

    Lookback and apply lessons learned to new projects being engineered.
    Project Management

    Accountable for the development and management of project control deliverables for in-scope work including cost estimates, schedules, forecasting, budget stewardship, risk management and reporting.

    Coordinate procurement and fabrication of equipment and long-lead materials.
    Manage third party resources, including engineering firms and vendors.
    Coordinate detailed engineering activities using internal or external (EP) resources.
    Liaise with site execution teams to assist in project construction and commissioning.
    Risk Management

    Facilitate the Cenovus Management of Change (MOC) process to safely manage facility modifications, includes ORA's in cases where that review is required.

    Assess risks using process hazard analysis techniques; mitigate risks appropriately.
    Engineering Processes

    Engage and align stakeholders where required to project objectives and to ensure proposed solution meets the customers' requirements, both for construction and as a final product.

    Execute projects through the MOC process in adherence with the COIMS Standard.
    Ensure engineering work is carried out within the requirements of the Cenovus Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
    A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience is required.
    Project management fundamentals.
    Demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts quickly and ability to apply technical concepts into practice.

    Understand priorities and manage time and workload where best suited to add value to the asset and Cenovus as a whole.

    Ability to travel to site as required.

    As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

    For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 3 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.

    Internal candidates that are currently in a lower grade will be assessed based on their sustained job performance, how they demonstrate the expected organizational competency behaviors and values and in discussions with their current leader prior to determining next steps.
