Position Overview:


As a member of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Coordinator will assist the HR Services team by providing generalist HR support to the HR Managers and HR Business Partners.

The position will be focused on enhancing and centralizing processes, coordinating and administering activities and/or action plans to create efficiencies that will support the HRBP Team.

Duties will include performance management support, employee and labour relations support, business priority support and various administrative duties.


Job Description:

Reporting / Analytics

  • Create reporting and analytics for HR Services regarding key performance indicators: turnover, recruitment, performance reviews, employee experience survey, training and compensation. Make recommendation for process improvements based upon trends.
  • Union specific reporting including temporary transfers, seniority reports, accommodation tracking, and ability management
  • Prepares, on an ad hoc basis, reports in support of HR Services day to day support, projects, HR Cycles or initiatives
Business Partnership / Customer Service

  • First point of contact for employees with inquiries pertaining to payroll, benefits and pension, recruitment, onboarding, HR policies & procedures, Workday navigation, etc. Identifies and escalates complex inquiries or cases as needed.
  • Provide HR administrative support by answering employee questions, working on presentations, gathering and analyzing information, writing letters, and utilizing workday for HR related items.
  • Ability to provide guidance to people leaders and HRBP team with transactional Workday activity related to Human Capital Management business (HCM) processes.
  • Create internal offer, overpayment, employment verification, termination and layoff letters and other adhoc letters as required
  • Build organizational knowledge and business/financial acumen in order to establish strategic relationships with business leaders.
Performance Development

  • Mentor with HR Business Partners and HR Managers to develop skills in harassment investigations, terminations, performance management, training initiatives and support for labor relations issues
  • Develop in all generalist disciplines within HR by supporting business process and implementation of various HR strategies and priorities, including employee and labour relations, talent management, compensation, training and development, and ability management.
  • Working with front line leaders in developing and reviewing job profiles and job evaluation summaries as part of the compensation evaluation process.
  • Responsible for the processing and maintenance of HCM (Human Capital Management) position management requirements.

This includes but not limited to:
position creation and maintenance, employee job and compensation changes and validation of supervisory organization assignments

  • Able to recommend solutions to efficient day to day processes/procedures and support audit requests from internal HR stakeholders as required
  • Interpret and explain Collective Agreements, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Administrative

  • Conducts exit interviews and compiles trend reporting
  • Book site access drug and alcohol tests and send clearance letters
  • Coordinate employee recall process in accordance with applicable CBA.
  • Creates presentations, employment documents, announcements and updates internal distribution lists.
  • Administrative duties like filing, invoicing, coding, allocating expenses, system data maintenance and ordering office supplies for the HR team.

Education & Experience:

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or Human Resources; or in progress
  • 2 to 3 years HR generalist experience; or
  • Combination of both education and experience would be considered
  • Experience working in a unionized work environment is an asset
  • Working towards CPHR designation would be considered an asset
