These positions fall within the pay band 14, ranging from $126,579 to $168,772. The anticipated starting salary for this role is $150,000.

Conestoga College is launching new programs related to animal care.

The following three programs with specialized facilities are currently under development and anticipated to launch in September 2025:


  • Veterinary Technician
  • Veterinary Assistant
  • Pet Grooming


Leading up to the launch of the new programs, the Chair will be responsible for all aspects related to this new portfolio, including completion of curriculum development (with a team of curriculum developers), finalizing the facilities design, and managing renovations of the new specialized facilities and equipment, pursuing applicable accreditations such as OAVT, establishing relationships with industry partners for student work placements, and hiring of all staff.

These actions are already well underway but need to be completed.


The Chair will be part of a school administrative team that oversees academic deliveries in full-time and part-time programs in the School of Workforce Development, Continuing Education, and Online Learning.

The incumbent will provide academic leadership for all credentials and ensure audit, accreditation, and quality assurance protocols and related documentation are in place.

The incumbent will also be involved in the administrative process of recruiting, hiring, and appraising faculty (both full and part-time), preparing SWF (Standard Workload Formulas), and working with program teams to staff and monitor teaching assignments.

This role will be accountable for the research, planning, development, delivery, accreditation, budgeting, sales, facilities, and marketing of all related programming.

School growth is a key area, domestically and internationally, and the incumbent will be expected to contribute to strategies actively.

The incumbent will grow the portfolio through new, innovative programming.


Responsibilities:


Team Management

  • Understands and manages faculty and staff within the Collective Agreements and relevant College policies
  • Works with HR and Finance to create a staffing plan for each academic year based on planned enrolment and program delivery, recognizing enrollment will fluctuate
  • Recruits and hires full and parttime faculty, coordinators, and staff under the provision of the collective agreement
  • Develops and ensures orientation and onboarding program delivery to ensure team members have the knowledge and tools to become effective contributors
  • Effectively assigns staff workloads and allocates fiscal and physical resources as appropriate
  • Ensures accurate and timely SWFing and scheduling processes are completed
  • Initiates the problemsolving process for disputes involving faculty, staff, and students
  • Completes performance management review process for faculty and staff, ensuring annual goals and development plans are established as required
  • In consultation with HR, recommend disciplinary and termination action as required
  • Ensures Occupational Health and Safety requirements are implemented and maintained

Team Development

  • Creates an inclusive, welcoming, and healthy campus (inperson/online) ecosystem that fosters an innovative, supportive, and collaborative teaching, learning, and work environment for faculty, staff, and students
  • Coaches, guides, and mentors faculty and staff, providing feedback regularly
  • Promotes and monitors ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff

Strategic Planning and Implementation

  • Translates School/College vision and strategic goals into actions and solutions that will enhance the desired performance and outcomes within the portfolio
  • Contributes to and actively participates in the strategic planning process for the school

Program Management

  • Oversees program delivery and ensures effective ma
