Accounts Receivable Coordinator (12 Month Contract)

Job Description:


  • Prepares and verifies standard and specialized billings for group clients, including, coverage and premium reports on proprietary systems.
  • Reviews and prepares monthly system feeds for applicable clients by running system job, verifying, and correcting data, uploading for client retrieval, and answering questions.
  • Ensures that premium related information is updated on administration systems, which includes completing the recalculation process, generating client payables, and verifying and distributing billings to billed clients.
  • Reviews discrepancies identified in reconciliations, performs investigation of the corrective action required and completes the corrective actions.
  • Verifies transaction information, calculates refunds to clients, prepares cheque requisitions as required, and maintains and updates the outstanding receipts and premium listings.
  • Records cash received in appropriate systems, allocates to appropriate invoices, and verifies balances outstanding.
  • Creates detailed journal entry information of all transactions for each client receivable, to verify integrity of premium and coverage. Completes receivable confirmations, and compiles and maintains client files by imaging and indexing remittances and performing backup procedures.
  • Reconciles receipts with bank report downloaded from bank site to ensure completeness of cash recordings and accuracy of receivables.
  • Sorts and prioritizes work to be accomplished. This includes organizing and routing mail, separating cheques, billings and related information, photocopying relevant information received with remittances for other departments, and communicating changes and other pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs administrative functions as required to maintain funds for clients with special funding arrangements.
  • Prepares deposit statements for cheque received.
  • Assists the Finance and Accounting department with answering questions, including those from auditors at yearend, or as requested.
  • Follows the appropriate procedures to maintain accounting controls, advising management on needed actions outside established procedures as required.
  • Prepares the monthly cash file. Liaises with clients and the Finance department to confirm information pertaining to electronic funds transfers into OTIP's account and for transfers to OTIP managed client accounts.
  • Secures financial information through regular database backups and follows internal accounting controls to maintain financial security.
  • Ensures all documents are accurately ingested into Ontario Document Index System (ODIS) and performs ODIS audits in accordance with established standards.

Qualifications:


  • A postsecondary diploma or degree with accounting courses included. Pursuit of an accounting designation will be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of oneyear experience in accounting and/or collections. Experience in Group Benefits Premium Administration is considered an asset.
  • The demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze all information and figures in great detail while using strategic approaches to understand and complex problems.
  • Superior time management, project management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
