Position Summary / Purpose


Reporting directly to the Managing Director the Quality and Health &Safety Coordinator will have full responsibility for all aspects of company quality systems including BRC, ISO14001, ISO The Quality & HS Manager will ensure the products meet both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations.

They will be responsible for providing support to all employees to deliver H&S best practice across the site, driving and supporting positive health and safety behaviours and culture.

They will monitor and report on health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace, management of emergency procedures and carry out accident, incident and near-miss investigations as required.


Main Duties and Responsibilities (This list is not exhaustive and employees are expected to carry out other duties that may reasonably be required)


QUALITY

  • Responsible for maintaining the Quality Management systems (BRC & ISO
  • Management of Quality, BRC & ISO14001 internal audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant departments.
  • Management of customer complaints, including all relevant documentation and using proper action plan to ensure the continuous improvement of quality performance.
  • Management of internal and external nonconformance
  • Develop and conduct basic quality induction training.
  • Ability to identify key hygiene/quality risks and remedy efficiently.
  • Participate in customer site visits
  • Engage in direct communication with customers as required.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure quality is built into our manufacturing processes
  • Look to improve systems, policies and processes.
  • Supervising the Quality Assistant/Quality Inspector
  • Ensure the workplace possesses an ideal and safe working environment to protect the health of staff and visitors.
  • Inspect and evaluate all equipment, practices, and procedures in accordance with safety legislation and government regulations.
  • Develop, implement and monitor health and safety policy, programs and plans.
  • Predict all kinds of potential risks, identify their causes and recommend measures to prevent or minimize them.
  • Set up emergency plans and educate employees how to handle such situations.
  • Increase health and safety awareness across all levels and departments.
  • Conduct safety inspections.
  • Prepare, review and update appropriate sections of the company's emergency procedures manual.
  • Ensure all operatives within the operations department are fully training on essential health & safety within the workplace.
  • Coordinate and provide necessary training in the areas of safety like fire drills, first aid, accidents etc
  • Monitor and arrange training as and when required.
  • Work with the HR Manager to ensure the company is compliant in Health & Safety regulations in Ontario

Person Specification

Qualifications/ Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree with experience in the field
  • Previous Quality and Hygiene experience within a supervisor role
  • In depth knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Manufacturing experience

Desirable

  • Food or Food Packaging manufacturing experience
  • Behaviour Based Safety experience

Particular Aptitude/Skills Required

  • Effective communicator
  • Strong knowledge of the food packaging industry
  • Experience of managing quality management systems
  • Persistent with the ability to influence others
  • Attention to detail
  • IT proficient on Microsoft packages

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
$65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
