About Us:


The Office of the Registrar (OOR) fosters a culture of student service excellence and is a key contributor to the overall student experience at Western, from the initial point of contact with prospects through to graduation and beyond.


Responsibilities:


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Undergraduate University Degree from an accredited, recognized university
  • Experience:
  • 2 years' experience in an international recruitment, marketing, or communications role, in an academic institution
  • Previous experience working with a culturally diverse client base is preferred
  • Experience providing support for international students would be an asset
  • Experience in a University environment is preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of procedures required of incoming international students
  • Ability to act on new information and effectively contribute in a changing environment
  • Presentation skills to deliver engaging and informative presentations that clearly explain information to audiences using appropriate communication channels
  • Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
  • Crosscultural competency with an ability to interact and work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds with the capacity to consider issues from the perspective of others
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Selfdirected, and comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgment in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
  • Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University's events and activities
  • Willingness and ability to travel; must have a valid passport in respect of all visa requirements
  • Ability to speak an additional language is considered an asset
  • Excellent driving skills with an ability to travel extensively throughout Ontario, Canada and internationally
