McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a
Hospitality & Events Assistant as part of our
Vancouver Hospitality & Concierge Services team.

As a member of the lively team, you will play a key role in supporting and leading all food and beverage service to the boardrooms for client meetings, seminars and firm events.


It is important to note that this role has a requirement to work onsite in the office at all times. Please be aware that McMillan has extensive protocols in place to protect all firm members.

What You'll Do:


Client Service:

  • As a Hospitality & Events Assistant at McMillan, you play a critical role in fostering a professional image and ensuring a positive first impression for all guests and clients of the firm
  • Responsibilities include ensuring effective and efficient service to internal and external clients in a welcoming, professional, client service focused environment
  • Provide an exceptional level of client service at all times, ensuring all visitors needs are met while they are attending the firm

Catering, Meetings and Events:

  • Responsible for set up and tear down of all catering requirements to all meeting rooms in a timely manner
  • Responsible for food & beverage catering orders for daily meetings and seminars
  • Assist with event menu planning
  • Ensure meeting rooms are set up and prepared according to standard
  • Ability to serve both daily catering and onsite events independently at a high level with some supervision
  • Ability to provide formal dining service and/or bartend when required
  • General tidiness of all meeting rooms, staff lounge and hallways in the client centre
  • Maintaining an ongoing knowledge of dietary restrictions
  • Assist with stocking beverage fridges with inventory to ensure readiness
  • Follow cleaning schedules for the main catering kitchen and equipment
  • Maintaining the organization of department storage areas, assisting with stocking of supplies to the main kitchen, boardrooms and serveries
  • Washing, polishing of dishes, silverware, glassware and cater ware
  • Complete last minute requests with efficiency
  • Ensure that all meetings and requests in the Meeting Room Booking System are monitored and fulfilled on a constant basis
  • Provide direction to agency staff
  • Assist with cleaning of hoteling areas when required

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist and conduct department inventory when required
  • Assist with departmental inventory and beverage consumption sheets
  • Assist with and update department financials and statistics
  • Perform other duties when directed by Manager/Supervisor

What You Bring:


  • Previous catering and events experience in a hospitality or professional services environment is a must
  • Exceptional client service skills and a strong understanding of client service best practices to ensure a best in class approach
  • Good understanding of all food types and cuisines
  • Knowledgeable in all types of food and beverage services including formal dining
  • Bartending and Mixology experience
  • Professional, upbeat, friendly and a "cando" attitude
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with other members in a team setting or independently
  • Flexibility of schedule or work additional hours on occasion, sometime on short notice to respond to special requests/events
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Excellent technical skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Meeting Room Booking System (MRBS,) Power Point, other internal programs
  • Willing to participate in training programs
  • Able to walk and deliver catering items for extended period of time in a busy office environment
  • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Professional and polished appearance; adheres to uniform policy
  • Ability of lift up to pounds
  • Smart Serve certified
  • Food Handlers certified
