Position Description:


The Data Analyst will assist with data management for a provincial measurement initiative in children's mental health (Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale, CAFAS).

The position is at SickKids and is funded by annual contract from the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

The Data Analyst must ensure accuracy of data sent by service providers, extract data, produce reports and participate in creating more efficient procedures.


Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Coordinate the data flow from over 100 mental health organizations to a central CAFAS portal
  • Extract data and run subroutines that will merge different data formats obtained from CAFAS software
  • Conduct procedures for data cleaning
  • Develop and submit quarterly reports in SPSS based on aforementioned data
  • Help create strategies and syntax to generate better automatic reports for mental health centers and for the Ministry of Child and Youth Services
  • Contribute to the final annual report for fiscal year
  • Identify issues/gaps and administer solutions including potential modifications or redesign of the database or the business process
  • Communicate within the team in general and the data analyst supervisor in particular to ensure accuracy of the data
  • Maintain proper backups of database
  • Extract the appropriate data from the merged database or other locally developed databases to produce required reports, prepare summary sheets of stats recorded
  • Participate in CAFAS meetings and activities
  • Adhere to hospital and department standards, policies, and procedures

Here's What You'll Need

  • Undergraduate degree in the information technology, mathematics, statistics, engineering, health sciences or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency with the computer skills, specifically knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite (including VBA programming) and SPSS programming (ver. 15.0 and up)
  • Experience in database development, knowledge of SQL and the ability to conceptualize the project goals into standardized data management practices
  • Creative acumen and willingness to participate to improve the business flow, procedures or strategies in place
  • High precision and attention to detail, patience and ability to work with repetitive tasks
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills
