Job Summary:


Reporting to the Director Human Resources, the Human Resources Consultant is responsible for providing client focused HR strategy, operational guidance and programs that are aligned with the corporate people strategy, as well as corporate and departmental strategies.


Education:


  • Postsecondary degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or equivalent.
  • Additional certifications or diplomas in Human Resource Management is preferred.

Knowledge:


  • 8 years' experience in Human Resources within multiple functional HR areas.
  • Above includes 3 years management level experience.
  • 10 years' experience in Human Resources within multiple functional HR areas, including Municipal sector is preferred.
  • Above includes 5 years management level experience is preferred.
  • Professional certification in Human Resources, such as the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), or equivalent.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is preferred.

Responsibilities:


_ Supports the development and execution of people strategies, working closely with Departmental business partners to understand their business drivers and provide integrated people solutions supporting their business objectives and people requirements (45% of time)

  • Advises and develops strategies on succession planning, career planning, staff development and learning, and attraction/redeployment to ensure the client has the necessary talent in place for current and future needs.
  • Consults with Managers in the development of performance coaching and development programs, advising on a range of human resources issues and solutions, conducting team facilitation sessions and advising on returntowork programs to ensure the client has successfully performing teams and staff.

_ Provides leadership, advice and guidance on business planning & organizational issues in support of strategic and operational objectives and people management strategies (30% of time)

  • Leads client based strategic HR projects (or the HR portion of a larger operational project) that are complex and/or multifaceted in nature.
