PRODUCTION TEAM ASSISTANT (FLOATER)
Under the direction of the Production Team Leader, the Assistant is responsible for the safe and effective operation of an assigned area of the company's production system.
After having progressed through all levels, the Production Team Assistant will be promoted to Production Team Operator on their next anniversary date provided they meet the requirements of the Operator position as per the company's Performance Evaluation Program system.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Ensures the safe and effective operation of an assigned portion of the production plant. Will also be expected to help in other areas on a regular basis.
- Continually monitors the production process to ensure that product quality, outputs, and waste levels comply with established targets.
- Acts to quickly identify and correct situations contributing to inferior production line performance. If necessary, seek out senior team members for assistance in troubleshooting.
- With the assistance of the other team members, will eventually acquire competence in a specific area of production. Will also actively participate in the development of other team members through active sharing of knowledge and the maintenance of an atmosphere of encouragement.
- Ensure that all production areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Responsible for the dismantling and cleaning of production line equipment as required to maintain product quality.
- Responsible for routine daily maintenance of production equipment, ensuring reliable operation. Immediately report any concerns to the maintenance department.
- Ensure that necessary paperwork, including roll tags, production reports, and daily line reports, is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in the maintenance of a logbook documenting daily operating conditions, problems, or any other relevant information.
- Other duties as assigned.
YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- A minimum of Grade 12 education.
- Several years of related work experience. Special consideration will be given to those with plastics processing experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with complex machinery.
- An ability to work with mínimal supervision in a team environment.
- Good organizational and record keeping skills.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification (provided by the company).
