As an Accounting Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the Debit Card, Credit Card and Commercial Card monetary/non-monetary transactions.


This is inclusive of but not limited to:
the investigation, resolution and disposition of exception transactions (out of balance conditions, un-postable and rejected items).


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Acquire and maintain expert proficiency of OCS Settlement Accounting, Credit Cards and Debit Cards as well as the regulations, policies and procedures governing them
  • Ensure negative trending or risk related issues within the products serviced are identified and contributes recommendations to address root cause with a view to driving increased efficiency balanced with reduced operational risk within the team
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of monetary and nonmonetary transactions, daily exception reporting through investigation, validation, and correction processing. Escalating unusual items in a timely manner based on exception type where required
  • Process queued cases within established Service Levels Agreements and ensuring accuracy of case comments/responses
  • Participate in meeting the Bank's regulatory and financial reporting requirements
  • Ensure knowledge of daytoday operations within the unit on matters of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, and Privacy matters, and escalation of such; Understanding the Business Continuity Plan and contributing to its effective execution
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Strong knowledge of Banks accounting policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of the Scotialine/VISA/AMEX/MasterCard and Commercial Card, Western Union, EMT, ITM products and the regulations, policies and procedures governing it.
  • Strong knowledge of AS400, KS, FFT, AFT, EDL, TSYS1, TSYS2, SG, Image, Digital Courier, Process Navigator, and TCS Systems.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively assist/train personnel and complete assigned duties.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office including spreadsheet management.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in a constantly changing environment, being versatile and able to provide cover on several posts at different times and at different levels on any given day concurrently, and ability to work under pressure due to high volumes that must be processed
  • Ability to deal effectively with Branch/customer complaints, referring to a Manager/Supervisor where necessary, to ensure resolution is obtained to the complete satisfaction of all parties involved, the Customer, the Bank, and Reconciliation department.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) /interpersonal skills to communicate during the investigation and reconciliation processes with multiple partners across the Bank and with OFI and external partners.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Good time management skills and ability to coordinate several activities, weighing often conflicting priorities, resolving problems, and working in a fastpaced environment.

Working Conditions:

Standard office environment.

While work type is predictable, often an unpredictable fluctuation in transaction volumes, exception items and compressed timelines for financial reporting activity (month end, quarter end and year end) can cause considerable disruption with respect to timing as well as accuracy/reliability.

Systems changes and implementation of new products create by nature, increased attention to new procedures and lower productivity that must be accounted for and resolved.

Standard working hours are from Monday to Friday 8:00 am-4:00pm
