Overview:


This position carries out a variety of administrative support functions for the Community Services division and plays a critical role in the administration of the Recreation Fee Subsidy Program (RFSP).The goal of the RFSP is to expand access to recreation, cultural and parks programs and experiences for Richmond residents experiencing financial hardship.


Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains databases and up-to-date program specific information to support program reporting.
  • Analyzes program data for trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with projects and business practices research.
  • Assists with budget report printing, research, and budget preparation.
  • Liaises and provides information and assistance to a variety of internal and external contacts. Answers phone calls, resolve complaints, clarify information, and direct clients/contacts to appropriate resources.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to perform word processing and data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively manage highly sensitive customer information.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work well under pressure, and deal with stressful situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines and adapt and change priorities quickly with ease.
  • Knowledge of Council procedures and actions.
  • Strong organizational ability with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to have a high degree of flexibility, remain calm, and to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to complete typing, word processing and clerical assignments without supervision.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office suite, including; Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Knowledge of REDMS, PeopleSoft, Xplor Recreation and IPS is an asset.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Police Information Check.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Successful completion of Grade 12, supplemented by one (1) year of postsecondary coursework related to the position, such as Business Administration or Local government Administration. A minimum of 12 years of related clerical work in an office environment is required. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in a municipal government environment is considered an asset.
  • Training in Microsoft Office Suite and word processing is preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.
