The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus.

The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

Compensation:
$18.00 per hour

Position Overview

Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing excellent dishwashing service to AMS outlets
Ensuring all dishware and utensils are cleaned and sanitized
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Assisting with occasional food preparations as needed
Working in a fast paced environment and remaining calm under pressure
Working with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department
Other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 12kgs (26.5lbs)
Ability to do shift work (daytime, evenings, and holidays). Availability from 11AM to 7PM preferred
Ability to learn quickly
Ability to work as part of a team
Language: Required to speak, read and write English
Previous experience in a food service environment an asset
Food Safe level 1 an asset
Serving it Right certification an asset
