Laboratory Operations Supervisor
About the Position:
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing client samples for extraction and analysis, and sample login activities at the laboratory while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
You will be working independently and in a team environment, with an emphasis on providing quality and efficient service to clients.
Specific Responsibilities- Process samples in a timely manner, to meet client Turnaround Times (TAT) and holding requirements;
- Measure sample mass/volume, add surrogates, perform extractions using common laboratory solvents;
- Extraction and concentration of required parameters in soil, water and oil samples as well as other non
- Responsible for the calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of basic lab instruments;
- Addition of quality control standards such as matrix spike and surrogate solutions;
- Clean glassware and laboratory equipment;
- Monitor and restock laboratory consumables/chemicals;
- Samples shelving, archiving, and disposal;
- Prepare reagents, standards, and reference materials;
- Perform all required recordkeeping and documentation;
- Monitor controlled equipment
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Lead.
- Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with confident computer skills;
- Organized, analytical, and process oriented;
- High attention to detail;
- Strong problem solving skills;
- Ability to handle pressure from high sample volumes and competing turnaround times;
- Work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
- Ability to sit or stand for a full shift;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
