Treasury Board and Finance - Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) is responsible for the collection of revenue and the administration of Alberta's tax, revenue and related benefit programs.
Business Solutions within TRA provides a diverse scope of services to the Branch and to Alberta Government Ministries, in the support of Collections and Recoveries activities.
The Paralegal Services teams within Business Solutions perform activities such as management of highly sensitive portfolios and paralegal services involving collection, legal and enforcement actions.

Reporting to the Paralegal Administrative Supervisor, the Recoveries and legal Administrative Assistant provides legal enforcement and recovery services to many programs and ministries across the Government of Alberta.
- Key responsibilities for the Recoveries & Legal Admin Assistant role are:
- coordinate the preparation, execution, filing, and registration of various documentation required for legal action(s);
- work with Administrators when dealing with Bankruptcy and Consumer Proposal orders and credit counsellors on Orderly Payment of Debt
- process revenue in a timely/accurate manner to ensure account balances are current
- legal enforcement registration and maintenance activities using Alberta Personal Property Registry Electronic System (APPRES)
- access Government of Alberta (GoA) and other databases to verify and obtain information pertinent to various phases of the legal enforcement process
- maintaining and updating file records
Your overall responsibilities will require you to have excellent multi-tasking skills, as it is essential for you to balance the various aspects of the position.
You must be a self-motivated team player that uses your communication skills and problem-solving abilities to resolve issues often of a sensitive nature.
You must be able to perform detailed work with accuracy, prioritize tasks in accordance with timelines and handle a high volume of work that can involve interruptions.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma and three years' related experience in business administration with knowledge of the Alberta Rules of Court, civil court procedures, and legislation pertaining to civil litigation in a collections environment. Excellent computer skills including full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams is essential.
- Assets for this role include:
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
- Postsecondary education in legal or office administration
- Experience working in a public sector environment (eg. Government of Alberta)
Equivalency:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
