About the role


The Supplier Quality Team Lead will lead a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and Technicians to support Manufacturing, Supplier Development, New Product Development, and Quality Systems.

Furthermore, they will track data and identify improvement projects to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality products while facilitating compliance with regulatory requirements.


Snapshot of Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate/Conduct supplier quality audits (ISO 9001 / on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with Boston Scientific standards.
  • Promote the use of CI techniques at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control.
  • Manage SCAR process to ensure complete and effective RCA and Corrective Action implementation.
  • Translates department goals into individual objectives.
  • Identifies, develops and implements processes to improve department performance.
  • Provides manufacturing support by defining work assignments directed to address manufacturing process defects and implement process improvements utilizing Quality System tools.
  • Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
  • Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in database
  • Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with Suppliers
  • May give technical guidance to Quality Inspectors, or other quality staff assigned to work on common projects
  • Adhere to and promote the adherence to all Corporate, Quality and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

Required qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Science.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in highly regulated industry and manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience leading and coaching others.
  • Prior Supplier Quality experience in manufacturing and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Advanced knowledge of quality related tools, including, but not limited to SPC, FMEA, MSA, DOE and Quality Systems
  • Interest in biomedical or healthrelated industry
  • Willing to travel up to 15% of the time

Preferred qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • A critical thinker and active listener with good time management skills in order to work with Suppliers and Project Management teams to define deliverables
  • Selfstarter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Skilled interpersonally; strong negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Medical Device Quality Systems (ISO and Regulatory Requirements.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience with medical devices manufacturing.
